Dan

Dan

Barber

Dan has been wielding clippers and straight razors since 1961, giving him over 60 years behind the chair. As one half of the legendary duo with Wally, Dan has seen it all—from surviving the hippie era of the '60s (when everyone wanted their hair longer, not shorter) to mastering every fade, taper, and traditional cut that's come back into style since. His steady hand, quick wit, and decades of experience make him a favorite among customers who appreciate a barber who's truly seen and done it all. If you want a cut from someone who's been perfecting the craft since before most barbers were even born, Dan's your guy.

Jim

Jim

Barber

Jim has been perfecting his craft since 1959—over 65 years of classic barbering excellence. As the grandfather of AJ Barbershop's current owners, Jim isn't just part of the team; he's the heart of the family legacy. He's been cutting hair in Apache Junction for more than 20 years and has called AJ Barbershop home for over 15 of those years. Many of his loyal customers have been sitting in his chair for two decades, a testament to his skill, consistency, and genuine care for the people he serves. Jim's dedication to traditional barbering and his warm, welcoming presence make every visit feel like coming home.

Lainee

Lainee

Stylist

Lainee grew up in a salon long before she ever picked up a pair of scissors. Her mom owned a salon in Santa Cruz, California, and those early memories of watching her work—connecting with people and creating confidence—shaped Lainee's approach to the craft. She later spent nearly ten years assisting at Hot Choppers, a high-end salon in Thousand Oaks, where she honed her technical skills and developed a deep appreciation for precision and professionalism. With over 15 years of experience, Lainee has a special love for barbering—clean cuts, thoughtful details, and work that helps people feel like themselves. As a mom of two, she understands the value of connection and takes pride in getting to know her clients, hearing their stories, and making sure everyone leaves her chair feeling comfortable, confident, and cared for. She's grateful to be serving the Apache Junction community, a place that truly feels like home.

Taylor

Taylor

Barber

Taylor is Apache Junction through and through—born, raised, and still proud to call this close-knit community home. A graduate of Apache Junction High School and former AJ Little League softball player, Taylor married her high school sweetheart in 2019 and is now a mother of two. In 2020, she made a career change and completed her barbering apprenticeship right here at AJ Barbershop, learning old-school and modern techniques from barbers with over 60 years of experience. Taylor specializes in traditional gentleman's cuts, military styles, flattops, fades, and classic hot towel straight razor shaves and beard trims. She also has a natural gift for working with kids, especially those with special needs, making every haircut a comfortable and positive experience. Taylor loves a good challenge and takes pride in building lifelong relationships with her customers—one cut at a time.

Terry

Terry

Barber

Terry traded the classroom for the barbershop, swapping lesson plans for clippers and a quieter, more creative life. Originally from Arkansas, Terry now enjoys the calm, low-key lifestyle Arizona has to offer. Outside the shop, you'll find him hiking Arizona trails, exploring small towns, snapping photos, experimenting in the kitchen, or relaxing at home with his wife and their cats. Terry brings a thoughtful, easygoing presence to every cut, and his years as a teacher gave him a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel at ease. Whether you're in for a classic cut or just some good conversation, Terry's chair is a comfortable place to be.

Wally

Wally

Barber

Wally started his barbering journey in 1961 and hasn't looked back—over 60 years of cutting, shaving, and perfecting the art. Along with his longtime partner Dan, Wally makes up the other half of AJ Barbershop's legendary duo. Together, they've been working side by side for six decades, outlasting trends, surviving the long-haired rebellion of the '60s, and proving that classic barbering never goes out of style. Wally is famous around the shop for his "Wally-isms"—catch phrases and one-liners that have become part of the AJ Barbershop experience. In fact, his coworkers gifted him a wood-burned sign hung above his mirror featuring his greatest hits. When you sit in Wally's chair, you're guaranteed a great cut, good conversation, and at least one memorable Wally-ism to take with you.
